Igor Stravinsky was tremendously skilled at using the resources at hand to create a highly diverse body of work.  His charming Octet brings together an unusual ensemble of brass and woodwinds to explore neoclassical angularities. Architectural in its structure, the transparency of the piece reveals Stravinsky’s superb craftsmanship and the performers’ virtuosity.  Antonín Dvořák had a special talent for melodies and his Serenade is filled with catchy tunes of the very best sort.  The work’s scrumptious wind sonorities are reinforced by cello and bass, creating a warm resonance that fills the hall to perfection!

This concert is not available for in-person seating.  Current subscribers may view the full concert online at www.mysymphonyseat.org.  To become a KC Symphony subscriber, please call (816) 471-0400.
