Vivaldi’s Trio Sonata is based on a Portuguese dance tune, while Böddecker’s Sonata sopra “La Monica” features bassoon virtuosity in both slow and fast variations on the melody. J.S. Bach’s First Orchestral Suite caps off the concert, with seven movements based on Italian and French dances.
