Description

George Daugherty, guest conductor

Whether you were introduced to opera’s magic on Saturday mornings courtesy of a certain “Wascally Wabbit” or you’re intrigued by hilariously animated symphonic classics, you won’t want to miss “Bugs Bunny at the Symphony.” Now in its 36th season, this hare-raising concert celebrates everyone’s favorite wisecracking, carrot-chomping cartoon legend. Sixteen fantastic Looney Tunes will be projected on Helzberg Hall’s big screen while the Kansas City Symphony, conducted by George Daugherty, performs the iconic original scores LIVE (as composed by Kansas City’s own Carl Stalling!). “Baton Bunny,” “The Rabbit of Seville,” “What’s Opera, Doc?,” “Corny Concerto,” “Long-Haired Hare” and other vintage animated shorts are paired with an eye-popping collection of brand-new cartoons, including “Skyscraper Scrap” starring Tweety and Sylvester … plus a special new short celebrating Bugs’ 86th birthday. It’s an ear-resistible masterpiece, all the way through to the final “That’s All, Folks!
