Experience a concert brimming with resilience and hope. Sergei Prokofiev’s Fifth Symphony, composed in just one month during World War II, is a celebration of spirit and strength. The composer stated that the symphony was intended as “a hymn to free and happy Man, to his mighty powers, his pure and noble spirit … I cannot say that I deliberately chose this theme. It was born in me and clamored for expression.” Hear this hymn to humanity plus Polish composer Karol Szymanowski’s joyful Second Violin Concerto.
