WORLD TOUR: from GERSHWIN to DEBUSSY
April 8-10, 2016
Helzberg Hall | Kauffman Center
Take a trip without leaving town! Gershwin portrays the City of Light through one of the most treasured American concert works, An American in Paris. Debussy’s tribute to Spain, Ibéria, earned the fervent admiration of Spanish composer de Falla, who praised the French composer’s “intensely expressive and richly varied music.” Guest violinist Bella Hristova lends her virtuoso talents to David Ludwig's Violin Concerto, a piece co-commissioned by the Kansas City Symphony. Before the French and Spanish voyage, listen for the adaptation of several church hymns in Ives’ touching Third Symphony, “The Camp Meeting.” Ovation& Masterworks Series
