MARY CHAPIN CARPENTER WITH THE KANSAS CITY SYMPHONY

Friday, May 8, 2015 at 8 p.m.

Helzberg Hall | Kauffman Center

Vince Mendoza, conductor

Mary Chapin Carpenter joins the Kansas City Symphony for a very special evening of music from her debut orchestral record, “Songs from the Movie.” Collaborating with composer/arranger and producer Vince Mendoza (Sting, Diana Krall, Elvis Costello and Joni Mitchell) and working once again with co-producer Matt Rollings (Keith Urban and Lyle Lovett), Carpenter’s new record harkens to her love of classic film and symphonic music. The result reprises 10 of Carpenter’s songs in Mendoza’s distinctively beautiful and cinematic arrangements, presented as an imaginary film soundtrack. From “Come On Come On” to “On and On It Goes” to “I Am a Town” and “Goodnight America,” this winner of multiple Grammy® Awards and two-time CMA® Female Vocalist of the Year is still breaking new ground, promising a unique, personal and memorable evening in Helzberg Hall. Tickets start at $40.
